What is TLM?Transoral laser microsurgery or TLM is a safe, conservation surgery for advanced laryngeal disease using the Carbon Dioxide CO2 laser via an endoscopic approach through the larynx. This type of treatment had been advocated for the treatment of early-stage laryngeal cancer since the 1970’s (1). TLM involves correcting deformities or performing precise and complete removal of benign and malignant tumors of the larynx, the pharynx and the oral cavity. TLM is a viable option for several types of head and neck cancer allowing physicians to target tumors without needing to surgically disassemble the patient.
